Planning has been submitted for a 22 storey tower with 361 apartments and commercial retail space to include a restaurant, bar, shop and hot food takeaway use on the land bounded between High Street, Church Street, Birchin Lane and Bridgewater Place in the Northern Quarter of Manchester.
The site is located in a prime site in the heart of Manchester's city centre shopping district; just behind Debenhams department store and across from Manchester's High Street Arndale Shopping Centre entrance.
If approved with the current submitted plans, it will create a total of 122 one bedroom, 213 two bedroom and 26 three bedroom newly built apartments over 22 floors and ground floor commercial space fit for restaurant/cafe, bar, hot food takeaway and retail use.
The planning has been submitted by ASE II Manchester Limited, which is part of CEG, with the their agent Deloitte Real Estate stating the current site, which includes an existing commercial building, is reaching the end of its economic life and that they are under-utilised and do not meet modern day environmental or occupier standards. hey go on to state that the existing building has extremely limited capacity for adaptation and there the new plans will contribute to Manchester's social, environmental and economic objectives.
